The term oral pathology is a general term used to refer to any disease or infection in the mouth, salivary glands, or jaws. Oral pathology can refer to processes such as tonsillitis, strep throat, herpes simplex virus, burning mouth syndrome, mumps, oral cancer, and other autoimmune diseases. Most oral pathological processes are benign (non-cancerous), but it's still vital to get yourself checked by an oral surgeon if you notice any changes in your mouth's structures or tissue. Remember: the absence of pain does not always indicate an absence of an oral pathology.

The key to treating an oral pathology is catching it early on. Many of our past patients have expressed their gratitude to our team and their dental professionals for identifying an oral pathology and treating it before it could become more serious.
